Face Off: Day Two
Our collaboration continued with a simple objective, pick a facial feature and draw it. We had pictures of noses, mouths, eyes and ears. We are isolating the features with plans to put them back together to make a collaborative face. We are off to a good start and its only been two days!

Providence Art Institute
Providence Art Institute was founded in 1991. Its mission is to provide professional, comprehensive, and integrated instruction in the visual and performing arts. Emphasis is placed on the special needs of artists with disabilities. The Art Institute provides individuals with disabilities many opportunities to fully participate in a wide variety of cultural experiences, including professional art instruction, exhibitions as well as field trips to museums, galleries and artists studios. The result of the Art Institute’s efforts is an exciting and successful art curriculum that includes introductory and advanced visual arts classes, various studio workshops and a dance program. Since its inception Providence Art Institute as proved to be a hugely popular and integral part of the Providence Center's daily activities, catering for over 160 artists. We have had exhibitions at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and Maryland Federation of Art for fourteen consecutive years; both venues in Annapolis. In 2007 we had Incidents in Color at Load of Fun Gallery in Baltimore. The show was greeted with critical acclaim in the Baltimore City paper. Providence artists are selected annually for the Arc of Baltimore’s “Art in the Round” event at the American Visionary Art Museum at Art Enables’ juried show, “Outsider Art inside the Beltway” in Washington DC. Most recently we partnered with Make Studio in Baltimore to put on a group show at Load of Fun.
Our artists work closely with the Art Manager, Assistant Art Manager and a monthly rotating schedule of visiting artists to develop the means by which they express themselves. Instructors act as a catalyst for the participant’s creativity offering materials and a loose framework in which to operate. How each person expresses themselves is ultimately up to them. The results speak for themselves showing a joyful celebration of color and a fresh engagement with both traditional and non traditional forms of artistic expression.
